Selection Guidelines and Application Information

1. Purpose:

The 21 Hope Foundation is pleased to announce the 6th Annual 2024 Scholarship Program aimed at supporting the academic achievements and leadership potential of Korean-American students. This scholarship is designed for academically outstanding students who actively contribute to their communities, with the goal of nurturing future leaders within the Korean-American community.

2. Scholarship Amount: $2,500 per recipient

3. Eligibility Criteria:

1) Academic Excellence:

Must reside in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, or Pennsylvania and currently be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program.

GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale for the previous semester (for college freshmen, high school GPA applies).

Special Talent Scholarships are awarded to 3 students excelling in fields such as culture, arts, or sports.

2) Community Service:

Active participation in community service and leadership activities is required.

3) Korean-American Identity:

Applicants who demonstrate an understanding of and contributions to the Korean-American community will be highly regarded.

4. Required Documents:

1) Application Form: Completed application form with a photo attached. (Link: www.21hope.org/)

2) Academic Transcript:

Submit your most recent semester transcript. (High school transcripts are required for college freshmen).

3) Personal Statement and Essay:

(1) Personal Statement.

(2) Essay (500 words or less) on one of the following topics:

“Discuss a person, book, or event that has significantly influenced your life and why.”

“Describe a meaningful community service experience and how it changed your perspective.”

4) Recommendation Letter:

One recommendation letter from a school leader, community leader, organization head, or pastor.

5) Community Service Verification (Optional):

Documentation of community service involvement and confirmation, if applicable.

6) 2023 Tax Return:

Tax return documentation from the applicant or their parent(s).

7) For Special Talent Applicants:

Evidence of achievements or documentation supporting excellence in the specified field.

5. Application Deadline:

December 16, 2024 (All documents must be submitted by this date).

6. Submission Methods:

7. Scholarship Award Ceremony:

Date: December 27, 2024.

Attendance is mandatory for selected recipients. Scholarships will be forfeited if the recipient does not attend.
